Taking Back Elaine

My company is a worldwide company.

They have offices in places like LONDON, AUSTRALIA, and quite a few others overseas but I’m most excites about those two. Granted it could be more than 2 because I have no idea how many offices are in Australia or where, my guess would be definitely in Sydney. Not sure about Melbourne. Really need to look into this. Oh and NYC, this will always be a great love of mine, even though it’s not international. Speaking of which, I must plan my tip up there for this year.

It’s my 2nd week in and all I can think is, by 2 years I could probably put in for an international transfer, right??? Yeah, because that’s what all the sane and normal people think.

Today’s WOD was a bit more intense than I thought it would be.

But first we did our bench press 3 rep max and mine is 93#! PR!! Which means my 1 rep max is for SURE going up!!

WOD
4 rounds
10 pull ups (scaled to ring rows)
10 Turkish get ups (5 each side. 8 kb was used)
400m run

Time: 26:54

I really wanted to cheat on my last run and cut a corner bringing it down to 200m. But I didn’t. And I’m proud of myself.

Also, the Turkish get ups were a lot harder than I was anticipating.

30 minutes post WOD and my face was this red. You know you worked hard.

Work up to a heavy rack split jerk.

Double unders (4x1 conversion for singles)
Burpees
Wall balls

Time: 26:01

And I earned every second of it.

This week’s plan. Have to start with one, right?

Monday - run loop around the lake at my office after work, then CrossFit. This may be just a CrossFit day if it rains like they’re predicting.

Tuesday - CrossFit. Make up Monday’s run if necessary.

Wednesday - run around lake, CrossFit

Thursday - rest

Friday - CrossFit

Saturday - run

Sunday - walk/rest/Swim?

Week 1

Well, my first week at my new job is officially done and I’m pretty happy with how it went.  It’s still going to take a long time for me to get caught up and in a groove and get comfortable/used to the systems they use, but I’m happy.  In fact, I had dinner with some old coworkers Tuesday and they were all talking about how great I looked - just because I’m so happy.  And  then I was at the charity/fundraiser last night and an old coworker said I was “100% better”…I told him I prefer changed or happier.  But I’ll take it.

The only down side to this week is my lack of gym time - it’s going to take some time to get used to this new schedule.  Granted, I had plans Tuesday and Thursday but I only went Monday.  One day is better than none, but I need to get back to it.  I’m hoping to get in a run tomorrow before my volunteer thing at my church tomorrow.  And hopefully before the rain.

I also realized I really miss races, I miss working towards something, I miss having a goal and I miss the camraderie.  I’m also a planner so I love that aspect of it.

Next week is planned, including meal prep this weekend to make next week easier.

Tomorrow, I run.  Photos or it never happened.

What did I do tonight? A charity fundraiser for JDRF.

And that’s where I painted this picture. I’m not the greatest but I’m pretty happy. You’d understand if you knew Richmond, this is “the fan”

My first day came with flowers!!

And, completely separate, an awesome note from my roomie tapes to the door as I was leaving.

There was a lot of reading and normal first day stuff. But I really like the people and the company culture and everyone was super nice and welcoming. Hopefully by the end o the week, it will be more hands-on training but for now it’s lots of online tests.

My brain was definitely tired after today and I thought about bailing but knew that wasn’t the right answer. I came home and ate (after realizing all I’d had all day was cereal and a salad…not exactly properly fueled for CrossFit) and then went to the box.

Glad I went. But tonight will definitely be an early bed time - im exhausted! Then again, waking up 3 times during the night isn’t the most restful sleep.
