20 Kneeling Kettlebell Half Moons (24/16)
1 Minute L Sit Hold

My core is not what it used to be, that’s for sure.  I can rock the heck out of some sit-ups but where I used to hold a 3 minute plank without breaking a sweat, I struggled to get through these planks.  And as for the L Sit hold…I thought I had lucked out and skated by without having to do these until they showed up today.  I asked Jamie what I could do to scale because there was no way I could do it.  When he told me planks, I said to heck with that and went for the L sit.  It had to be broken into a few different segments, but I did it.

And then you know what else I did?  I tried to go for my pull-up again…it is the beginning of the month after all.  Mary Cabell was nice enough to help me out and I’m not going to lie - I was scared and my confidence had been wrecked with my previous try.  I tried the black/green band combo again but tried to pick bands that I could tell were older in hopes that they would be stretchier.  I tried but as soon as I took my other foot off the bench, I was swinging a LOT and it scared me.  So MC made the suggestion to try 2 green bands instead and there was a lot less swinging.  I got about halfway up…more than my first attempt with the black band..and I don’t know if I don’t have the upper body strength yet or I was scared but I couldn’t get all the way up.

Guess there’s always next month.

Although, my stubborn personality wants to try again in a week or so just to prove to myself that I can do it.

AND THEN, because I hadn’t wrecked my arms enough, I figured a good training swim was in order.  It wasn’t fast, just consistent.  1100 yards.  The total yardage for the tri is 2212..so I did over half the distance.  I could have done more but people were waiting to get in the lanes and I was annoyed having to wait so long when I got there without anyone else being considerate, I thought I’d be nice.

Then, because my arms still had some mobility, more packing and lifting heavy boxes was in order.

A great Monday if you ask me.
